68 of 92 Legislative Promises Unmet as 10th Assembly Enters Final Year

A civic-tech organisation’s assessment finds that lawmakers have fulfilled only a fraction of their agenda. Of 92 tracked commitments, the House delivered 13, compromised 4 and broke 39, while the Senate fulfilled 9, compromised 12 and left 13 unfulfilled. Performance varied by sector. The House scored 67% in healthcare but zero in economy and jobs, with just 6% in governance and political reform. The Senate recorded 66.7% in education and 57.1% in economic development but stalled on constitutional amendments, youth inclusion and local government autonomy. The group behind the Promise Tracker NG platform calls this a wake-up call. With one year left, it urges legislators to fast-track reforms, honour their public covenants and deliver transformational governance.

It's telling that lawmakers broke almost half of their pledges, compromising Senate's credibility and leaving many communities without promised improvements.

I'm not sure focusing on numbers alone shows the full picture; some compromises might reflect political realities voters rarely see.

Organising regular town hall meetings could pressure legislators and track progress publicly, ensuring they address local priorities before tenure ends.
