1 / 4

The Lagos State Police intercepted an unregistered MAN diesel truck in Surulere on Saturday night, June 20. Inside, officers recovered 47 sacks of military camouflage uniforms and 80 cartons of suspected illicit drugs. Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani said three men—Chinedu David (29), Ezeagwu Chukwuma (38), and Ifeanyi Ogbeanyi (45)—were arrested by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit following credible intelligence. Preliminary investigations indicate the consignment was bound for the South East region. Police are tracing the source and intended recipients of both the uniforms and drugs. The commissioner reassured residents that the items posed no immediate threat to Lagos, emphasizing that they were being moved out of the state.

True, stashing uniforms with drug cartons seems meant to help them slip past checkpoints.

It seems odd that an unregistered MAN diesel truck carried both uniforms and suspected drugs without raising suspicion earlier.

This stunt feels more like an attempt to show off bust numbers than a genuine security boost around Surulere.

Authorities should register all commercial trucks and inspect cargo manifests regularly to prevent dangerous contraband from slipping through.
