SASA Cracks Child Trafficking Ring, Rescues Two Children in Onitsha
By Chinyere Nweke The Special Anti-Touting Squad Agency (SASA) has once again demonstrated its effectiveness with the rescue of two kidnapped children and the arrest of a suspected trafficker in Onitsha, Anambra State. Operatives of the Onitsha branch tracked down Mr. Sunday Nome from Abakaliki at Nkpor after receiving credible intelligence. Nome allegedly confessed to purchasing the three- and eight-year-old children for ₦3.5 million as part of a trafficking network. He admitted taking them to a hotel in Nkpor and planning to deliver them to an accomplice, Mrs. Uju. Thanks to swift action, the victims were safely recovered and the suspect is now in custody. Investigations continue to identify other members of the syndicate and prevent further offences. This operation underscores the importance of community vigilance and collaboration with security agencies in protecting vulnerable lives and curbing organised crime.
