Lagos Police Crack Car-Snatching Ring, Recover Five Stolen Vehicles
Operatives of the Lagos State Command have dismantled a notorious car-snatching syndicate, arresting three suspects and recovering five stolen vehicles. The operation began after the theft of a 2008 Toyota Camry. Intelligence and tactical investigations led officers to Ibadan and Ilorin, where they arrested 58-year-old Segun Olawuwo with a Toyota Corolla and later detained Femi Afolabi (53) and Sunday Ugbomudia (53) with two more stolen vehicles. A fifth car sold to an unsuspecting buyer was also traced and seized. The suspects have confessed to multiple car-snatching and robbery operations across Lagos, Oyo, and Kwara states. Police say they are intensifying efforts to apprehend other fleeing members and recover more vehicles. The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the team’s professionalism. Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and report useful information through the command’s emergency lines.
