Thai Police Nab Two Nigerians, Thai Woman in Romance Scam Drug Ring
Thai police from multiple divisions arrested two Nigerian men and a Thai woman after uncovering a transnational narcotics network that used romance scams to traffic drugs. Investigators say the syndicate created fake profiles on social media and dating apps, posing as wealthy foreigners to win trust. Recruited Thai women like “Li” were paid 40,000–50,000 baht per trip to smuggle heroin and cocaine across the Nong Khai border in disguised luggage and parcel boxes. Officers intercepted Emeka at a Samut Prakan toll checkpoint and Anayo in Ramkhamhaeng, while Li was detained at a local hotel. Raids yielded over 25 million baht of narcotics. Anayo admitted owning the seized cocaine, while Emeka denied involvement.
