WAFCON 2026: Algeria Beat Senegal 2-0 in Opening Match
Algeria opened their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a 2-0 win over Senegal in the tournament’s first match. Marine Dafeur converted a penalty three minutes before half-time after a tightly contested opening period. Senegal pressed for an equaliser after the break, but Algeria stayed disciplined and remained dangerous on the counterattack. Melissa Bethi wrapped up the victory in the 88th minute with a well-worked finish. The result puts Algeria top of Group A ahead of hosts Morocco’s match against Kenya.
