Intersociety Applauds Activist Attah’s UNIZIK Role, Rejects Kukah and Mbadinuju Honours
The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law praised Comrade Aloysius Emeka Attah’s appointment as Director of Information and Public Relations at Nnamdi Azikiwe University. It highlighted his record in grassroots advocacy, journalism and public engagement. The group opposed Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah’s chancellorship at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. They said he has not done enough to address insecurity and violence against Christians despite his influence. Intersociety also condemned the renaming of COOU’s Uli campus after former governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju. They argued the university should retain a unified identity and criticised Mbadinuju’s governance from 1999 to 2003. The statement commended Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s decision to grant automatic employment to 37 first-class COOU graduates. It urged that these appointments be made permanent under civil service regulations.
