I’m a Chelsea Man! Mikel Obi Refuses to Congratulate Arsenal After EPL Win

I’m a Chelsea Man! Mikel Obi Refuses to Congratulate Arsenal After EPL Win — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel says he won’t be sending congratulations to Arsenal despite their first Premier League title in 22 years. He revealed on his podcast that his phone was flooded with messages from Arsenal fans after they were confirmed champions. Mikel says his loyalty to Chelsea runs too deep to offer his praise. Still, he admitted Arsenal earned the crown fair and square. “They deserve it, fair play,” he said, adding that true sportsmanship means acknowledging a worthy winner and moving on. The Gunners will lift the trophy on the final day when they face Crystal Palace, after Manchester City’s draw confirmed Arsenal as champions.

It's interesting that even former captains can feel personal bias when it comes to rival clubs and championship moments.

No vex, but a bit more sportsmanship would've eased tensions even for die-hard Chelsea supporters.

Maybe a simple public statement of respect could defuse fan reactions without compromising personal loyalty.
