IPOB’s Directorate of State Suspends Nnamdi Kanu’s Office Indefinitely
In a statement on June 17, the Directorate of State of the Indigenous People of Biafra announced the immediate and indefinite suspension of the Leader’s Office and the position of Director of Radio Biafra, both held by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The DOS said the move is meant to safeguard IPOB’s operations and mission, protect members in Biafraland and the diaspora, and prevent any security breach or unauthorized actions under the suspended offices. It stressed that any crimes committed in the name of these offices will be attributed solely to the individuals responsible, not to IPOB. The statement warned that unguarded communications from Sokoto Prison and plans to form a new militia risked arrests, torture, and needless deaths of Biafran youths. It reaffirmed that only the Directorate of State has the authority to act on behalf of the movement. IPOB’s leadership reiterated its commitment to a peaceful, non-violent struggle for Biafran self-determination and emphasized that no individual can dissolve the apex institution overseeing the movement.
