FG Dismisses Rumours of Cyberattack on NEMIS, Cites SSL Glitch
The Federal Ministry of Education has rejected claims that its Nigeria Education Management Information System was hacked. Officials say the platform remains secure and fully operational. A temporary SSL certificate configuration error at the hosting level triggered browser security warnings. The ministry clarifies this was a technical glitch and not a breach of data integrity, confidentiality or availability. The issue was quickly fixed by the ministry’s technical team and its hosting provider. Normal service was restored without any data exposure, alteration or loss. The ministry urges the public and media to verify such reports before publication and reminds users that SSL alerts do not necessarily indicate a cyberattack.
