Oyo State Elevates Senator Sarafadeen Alli to High Chief, Dashes 2027 Guber Aspirations

The Oyo State Government will coronate Senator Sarafadeen Alli as a crown-wearing high chief on April 3. The elevation to Ekaarun Balogun follows Ibadan chieftaincy law. Under that law, crown-wearing chiefs in the Olubadan-in-council cannot openly participate in partisan politics. This move effectively bars Alli from a 2027 gubernatorial bid. The directive, signed by Commissioner Ademola Ojo, also confirms the promotion of High Chiefs Akeem Bolaji Adewoyin and Kola Babalola among the newly crowned Olubadan chiefs.
