Tinubu Approves Abuja Plots for New Envoys as Wike Emphasises Nigeria’s Global Image
Minister of the FCT Nyesom Wike says President Bola Tinubu has approved land allocations in Abuja for ambassadors and high commissioners-designate. This aims to strengthen diplomatic engagement and ensure envoys have a permanent base in the capital. Speaking at his residence in Life Camp, Abuja, Wike urged the envoys to uphold Nigeria’s image abroad. He said their presence in Abuja will support regular briefings and foster closer ties between their missions and the FCT administration. Wike dismissed concerns about a one-party state, affirming that Nigeria remains a multi-party democracy. He also highlighted infrastructure upgrades across the six area councils and called on envoys to attract investment in agriculture and waste management. He noted partnerships with Saudi Arabia, Egypt and plans to engage the European Commission. Wike expressed confidence that by 2027 Nigeria will be more peaceful, united and stronger.
