Anambra Police Arrest Eight Suspected Cultists, Seize Drugs in Enugwu-Ukwu Raid

Anambra Police Arrest Eight Suspected Cultists, Seize Drugs in Enugwu-Ukwu Raid

Anambra State Police Command carried out a targeted operation in the Eze-Allah black spot of Enugwu-Ukwu on the evening of April 16. Officers from the Special Anti-Cult Unit arrested eight males believed to be involved in cult activities. During the raid, operatives recovered quantities of suspected Cannabis Sativa and other dangerous substances. The command highlighted that illicit drugs often fuel youth involvement in cult violence. The suspects, aged 18 to 44, are undergoing profiling and formal investigation before they will be charged in court. The police reaffirm their commitment to working with communities across Anambra State to root out criminal elements and ensure public safety.

Is there any established community liaison or meeting platform between Enugwu-Ukwu locals and police for real info-sharing?

Relying on police alone won't address root causes; families and local leaders need to lead prevention efforts too.

It's interesting the raid yielded both suspected cultists and drugs, but we rarely hear about follow-up community outreach or prosecution updates.

I'm not convinced that a single operation can deter organized cult groups long-term without addressing underlying social issues.

Local leaders should partner with police to set up neighborhood watches and share intelligence on suspicious movements around Eze-Allah black spot.
