NDC Candidate Accuses Yunusa Tanko of Rigging Kaduna Primary for His Son

NDC Candidate Accuses Yunusa Tanko of Rigging Kaduna Primary for His Son — 1 of 10
1 / 10

I am Rakiya Baba Mohammed, the NDC aspirant for Kaduna North’s Kawo constituency. On May 29, I won our party primary with 225 votes to my rival’s 132 in four wards. In Badarawa/Malali, thugs and underage voters disrupted the poll. INEC officials were absent and security was insufficient, so that ward’s voting was cancelled. I received duly endorsed results from the Returning Officer, an INEC official, and security. Yunusa Tanko then claimed victory on social media. Party stakeholders were sent to Abuja, only to learn my nomination form was reassigned to Tanko’s son despite his losses in previous contests. This decision contradicts the NDC’s values and the principles of our leadership. I have evidence with INEC and ask the party to recognize the true winner of this primary.

No INEC officials present and security was absent where alleged thugs disrupted votes, that definitely raises credibility concerns.

Allegations alone don't prove anything until any official investigation backs them up, so we should wait for facts.

The party should deploy neutral observers and publish ward-by-ward vote tallies immediately after every primary to boost confidence.
