Overview of Israeli Missile Ranges and Capabilities
Israel’s ballistic missile force centers on the Jericho series, covering distances from around 500 km up to intercontinental ranges near 11,500 km. This spectrum provides significant strategic deterrence in the region. Key systems include Jericho I (500–660 km), Jericho II (1,500–3,500 km) and Jericho III (4,800–11,500 km). Israel also fields the LORA artillery missile (280–430 km) and the Shavit launch vehicle, which can reach beyond 4,500 km. Defensive shields like Arrow 3 and David’s Sling protect against long- and intermediate-range threats. While unconfirmed, Jericho II and III are widely believed to form part of Israel’s nuclear deterrent.
