Maduka Okoye Eyes Regular Super Eagles Call-Up After Stellar Serie A Form
Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has declared his ambition to become a mainstay in the Super Eagles squad after returning for the March international break. He marked his comeback with a clean sheet in Nigeria’s 2-1 friendly win over Iran in Antalya. Since rejoining Udinese, the 24-year-old has produced a string of impressive displays, including a man-of-the-match performance in a 3-0 victory against AC Milan and three consecutive Serie A clean sheets. Reflecting on his recall, Okoye said he was proud to don the national colours again. "It's important to me as a player and as a person. I want to return many more times," he told the club’s media team. With 16 caps since his 2019 debut, Okoye now aims to challenge Stanley Nwabali for the number one jersey and secure consistent call-ups in future Super Eagles squads.
