NDLEA Intercepts Chinese ‘Grandma’ with 31kg Synthetic Cannabis, Uncovers N2.19bn Drug Cache at Lagos Airport
NDLEA operatives at Lagos Airport arrested a 63-year-old Chinese national, Ting Hung Kiong, on May 17 after she arrived from Thailand via Dubai. Agents found two large travel boxes containing 31kg of Canadian Loud cannabis. The suspect, a Malaysian-based caregiver, said her daughter arranged her trip and handed over the drugs in Thailand. In a separate operation, customs handed over 29 cartons of Tapentadol tablets worth N2.19bn after tracking them from India. NDLEA teams also seized cocaine at Enugu Airport and opioids hidden in luggage at Abuja Airport. Additional interceptions included MDMA and tramadol pills in courier packages bound for Europe and the US, and large skunk raids in Edo, Kano, and Ekiti states. The agency continued its War Against Drug Abuse sensitisation in schools, workplaces, and worship centres across the country. NDLEA chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) commended the commands involved and urged all officers to maintain high operational standards.
