US Lawmaker Accuses Tinubu of Spending Millions to Lobby Congress Amid Christian Killings
US Representative Riley Moore has criticised President Tinubu’s administration for spending millions of dollars to lobby the US Congress while violence against Christians in Nigeria continues. Moore, who joined a US fact-finding mission on alleged Christian genocide, said the new State Department funding bill will restrict security assistance until Nigeria meets conditions on accountability, protection of displaced persons and religious freedom. The legislation also demands prosecutions of jihadist and ethnic militia groups, better support for faith-based relief and accountability for security forces. It tasks the US Secretary of State with assessing Nigeria’s compliance. A local news report says Tinubu’s team spent about $9 million on Republican lobbyists to influence Washington’s stance. The administration has not yet commented on these allegations.
