Eritrean Man Convicted of Raping Elderly Man Outside London Church

A 33-year-old Eritrean man has been convicted of raping an elderly man outside St John’s Church in Harrow, north London. Prosecutors said the victim, who was heavily intoxicated, was dragged from a bench to a grassy area behind a hoarding. The assault reportedly lasted about 20 minutes before a witness saw what was happening and alerted police. CCTV footage showed the suspect allegedly pausing whenever people passed nearby. Police arrested him at the scene, and he was later found guilty in court. The victim’s identity has been withheld for legal reasons.
