Osun to Replace Missing Drones with New Surveillance Equipment

Osun to Replace Missing Drones with New Surveillance Equipment

Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed his security team to procure new surveillance drones and other security gadgets after five state-owned drones vanished. The order came after four days of security meetings chaired by the governor. He said the new equipment will strengthen Osun’s security architecture, improve efforts against crime and banditry, and urged residents to report any suspicious movement. No figures were given for the number of drones to be purchased or the projected cost. The decision follows a wave of kidnappings, including the recent abduction of teachers and pupils in neighboring Oyo State.

Local authorities should pair new drones with community patrols and transparent reporting systems to ensure both effectiveness and public trust.
