FCT Police Arrest Wanted Terror Logistics Supplier on Abuja-Kaduna Highway

FCT Police Arrest Wanted Terror Logistics Supplier on Abuja-Kaduna Highway

The FCT Police Command says it has captured a suspect who supplied ammunition and logistics to terrorists, bandits and kidnappers. The wanted man was arrested on transit along the Abuja-Kaduna highway after an intelligence-led operation. Officers recovered 81 rounds of 7.62mm live AK-47 ammunition and 100 rounds for a General Purpose Machine Gun. The suspect’s sister was also detained; she is linked to another wanted bandit and allegedly helped supply ammo to terrorist groups. Investigations suggest both are part of a wider network supporting violence in Kaduna, Niger and FCT border areas. In a separate operation, the command also arrested two suspects over a “one chance” robbery on Giri-Lugbe Road after rescuing a victim. The Police Commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to proactive policing and urged residents to report suspicious activity immediately.

Are authorities planning similar targeted checkpoints on routes beyond the Abuja–Kaduna stretch?

It's unusual that intelligence-led operations yield such high ammo recoveries without insider tips or informant leads.

I'm not convinced a single arrest will significantly disrupt logistics networks on that stretch of road.

Authorities should increase checkpoints and community outreach along transit routes to identify suspicious movements early.
