FIFA Warns Nigeria: Talent Alone Can’t Secure 2030 World Cup Spot

FIFA has warned that Nigeria’s wealth of football talent won’t guarantee a return to the World Cup in 2030 without a stable and effective structure. The global body highlighted the need for consistent systems to back up individual skill. Reviewing the Super Eagles’ history, FIFA noted that Nigeria reached the Round of 16 in 1994, 1998 and 2014 but missed out on both 2022 and 2026. In the recent qualifiers, Nigeria topped South Africa in Group C but fell to DR Congo in the play-offs on penalties. Despite the setback, FIFA said Nigeria remains a major footballing nation thanks to its deep talent pool. It urged the football federation to build a robust framework that can deliver reliable performances at the highest level.
