Thailand Mourns Death of Princess Bajrakitiyabha After Four-Year Coma
Thailand’s eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn has died at 47 after nearly four years in a coma. The palace said she collapsed while training dogs in December 2022 and suffered severe heart arrhythmia. Her condition worsened over the years with infections, low blood pressure and clotting disorders. She remained hospitalized in Bangkok until her passing on June 11. Mourners gathered outside the Grand Palace and Chulalongkorn Hospital to pay tribute. The princess earned law degrees from Thammasat University and Cornell before serving as a public prosecutor and at Thailand’s mission to the UN.
