High Chief MacDonald Igbadiwei Elected INC President, Pledges Unity & Resource Justice
The Ijaw National Congress formally inaugurated High Chief MacDonald Igbadiwei as its new president in Warri, Delta State. Traditional rulers, political leaders, youth and women’s groups, and delegates from across Nigeria and the diaspora attended the ceremony. In his acceptance address, High Chief Igbadiwei stressed that unity is essential for advancing Ijaw interests. He pledged to strengthen the organisation, defend community rights, and champion sustainable development in every Ijaw community. Speakers also renewed calls for resource justice and a fair share of Niger Delta wealth. One participant noted that oil revenues must translate into visible development and better living standards for host communities. The event closed with prayers, goodwill messages, and a shared commitment to collective progress.
