Sergio Ramos Close to Buying Boyhood Club Sevilla in €400m Deal
Former Spain defender Sergio Ramos is on the verge of leading a €400 million takeover of his boyhood club Sevilla alongside investment group Five Eleven Capital. The proposed agreement would see the consortium acquire an 80% stake, with each share valued at around €3,500. The deal still needs approval from La Liga and Spain’s National Sports Council. Sevilla, a La Liga mainstay since 2001–02, is currently embroiled in a relegation battle. Ramos, 40, began in their academy before a trophy-laden 16-year spell at Real Madrid, followed by stints at PSG and Monterrey. He remains a free agent after ending his international career in 2023.
