Conte Quits Napoli After Citing Toxic Dressing Room

Conte Quits Napoli After Citing Toxic Dressing Room — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Antonio Conte and Napoli have agreed to part ways by mutual consent after the 2025–26 season, despite his contract running until 2027. The club confirmed his exit with a brief four-word announcement, hours after he and president Aurelio De Laurentiis clashed at a press conference. Napoli finished second in Serie A despite a final-day 1–0 win over Udinese. De Laurentiis lamented that injuries, not form, cost them a title defence. Conte criticised a toxic atmosphere at the club, saying he had failed to unite the dressing room and denouncing those who spread “poison.” He urged such individuals to leave.

A four-word announcement feels too brief after such a high-profile fallout with Conte and the club president.

Napoli should establish clear conflict resolution processes to prevent future breakdowns between coaches and management.
