Alleged: Wike Allotted Prime Abuja Plots and $50,000 Each to 29 INEC Officials

Sources tell SaharaReporters that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike offered parcels of prime Abuja land and over $50,000 in cash to more than 29 senior INEC officials. Those named include the Secretary to the Commission, several National Commissioners and Directors. The allocations initially came with Rights of Occupancy but were revoked for non-payment of certificate fees. Insiders say interventions later covered or waived these fees, allowing beneficiaries to keep plots valued at over ₦180 million each. Efforts to reach Wike’s media aide and INEC’s press secretary for comment were unsuccessful. Meanwhile, INEC faces fresh controversy over leadership orders affecting the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 elections.

What mechanisms are in place to verify whether these land and cash allocations actually happened, and who holds INEC accountable?

This report raises red flags about how accountability is enforced, since such large incentives can easily undermine impartiality, e choke me.

I'm not convinced these allegations alone prove systemic corruption, especially without official confirmation or follow-up from relevant authorities.

Citizens should push for transparent property registers and demand that INEC publish detailed transaction records to restore trust in the electoral process.
