From the City of the Dead to the Kingdom of Life

I once visited a country with one of the world’s largest cemeteries. Homeless residents lived in tents erected on concrete grave slabs, giving it the name “city of the dead.” In the same way, those who live in unrepentant sin are trapped in a spiritual city of the dead. Ephesians 2:1-6 tells us we were once dead in our sins until Jesus made us alive through His death and resurrection. He conquered hell and death and offers new life to all who believe. If you feel trapped in that dead city, accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour today. He will change your address from death to life. If Christ has already rescued you, don’t keep it to yourself. Preach the gospel and make disciples. Sometimes the blessing you seek comes when you step out in obedience. One woman prayed for a husband and was told to win souls first. Six months later, one of her converts asked to marry her, and they’re now a happy couple.

What lessons can we draw from a city built on burial slabs to our own spiritual path?

It's surprising how the analogy links physical homelessness among graves to unrepentant sin feeling trapped in spiritual death.

I'm not convinced comparing tent dwellers in a graveyard to sinners might overlook broader social and economic realities.
