Besiktas Opens Formal Bid as Salah Lowers €15m Wage Demand

Besiktas Opens Formal Bid as Salah Lowers €15m Wage Demand

Besiktas have made an official approach to Mohamed Salah after the 34-year-old Egypt captain reduced his initial €15 million annual salary request. His representatives met with club officials in Istanbul and reports suggest the talks “went positively,” with Salah “inclined” to play in Turkey. Earlier this month, Besiktas president Serdal Adalı dismissed links to the forward, but negotiations resumed once Salah trimmed his wage demands. The Turkish side has now tabled its first offer as both parties work to bridge the financial gap. Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas, says no decision has been made yet, but an update could arrive soon. Salah most recently starred at the 2026 World Cup, scoring once and adding two assists as Egypt reached the last 16 before falling to Argentina.

How realistic do you think Salah's lower wage demand makes a Besiktas move this summer?

Good question—are you focusing on Besiktas' budget constraints or Salah's own priorities when judging how realistic this move seems?

It's interesting that Salah would actually consider a pay cut at this stage of his career.

I'm not convinced Besiktas's reported positive talks guarantee anything until a contract is signed.

Clubs should keep an eye on how Salah's adaptability could benefit Istanbul football beyond salary figures.
