US Teen, 15, Shot Dead Months After Protecting 12-Year-Old Girl From Alleged Harassment
DaJon Hayes-Burr, a 15-year-old student from Louisville, Kentucky, has died after he was reportedly shot in the Shawnee area on July 25. A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting. Hayes-Burr had been praised months earlier for stepping in when a 12-year-old girl was allegedly being sexually harassed at the Thunder Over Louisville airshow. He and his friends reportedly formed a shield around the girl before confronting the alleged harasser, who was accused of stabbing Hayes-Burr. The teenager was recognised by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear for his bravery after the earlier incident. His family and state officials have described his death as tragic and senseless.
