Ogun Police Propose Centralised Arms Recovery System After Trials
The Ogun State Police Command has called for a unified framework to manage and retrieve illegal weapons once court proceedings end. The proposal aims to close gaps that leave recovered arms idle in various agency armouries. Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni highlighted at a National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons seminar in Abeokuta that delays in returning exhibits pose security risks. He urged stronger coordination among police, customs, DSS, NSCDC, immigration, military and justice ministry officials. The police command reiterated its commitment to enhance inter-agency collaboration, improve arms control and ensure recovered weapons are promptly accounted for. This measure is part of broader efforts to curb illicit arms proliferation and protect lives.
