Taraba SEMA Steps Up Fire Safety After Jalingo Outbreaks

Taraba SEMA Steps Up Fire Safety After Jalingo Outbreaks — 1 of 4
1 / 4

A series of recent fires in Jalingo has prompted Taraba State Emergency Management Agency to intensify its disaster response and prevention efforts. Led by Executive Secretary Audu Echuseh, teams assessed damage in communities such as Jeka da Fari and Nana Aisha after homes were destroyed by suspected electrical faults. Immediate relief measures were offered to displaced residents under Governor Agbu Kefas’s administration. Additional incidents at an NNPC filling station in Roadblock and a plastics warehouse in Saurara highlighted wider safety gaps. Authorities have launched recovery plans and public awareness campaigns urging stricter fire safety practices, especially during the dry season. Looking ahead, Taraba is forging regional alliances. Echuseh joined North-East emergency management heads in talks with the World Bank to strengthen early warning systems, manage flood and drought risks, and improve coordinated responses across the region.
