Teacher Permanently Banned After Asking Young Pupils on Dates and Crossing Professional Boundaries
A primary school teacher in northeast London has been barred from teaching for life after a regulatory hearing found he repeatedly crossed boundaries with his pupils. The Teaching Regulation Agency ruled that Carl Dixon’s conduct—from sending secret notes and inviting girls to hidden meetings to inappropriate touching—was unacceptable. Evidence showed Dixon pressured students into physical contact and misled the school during his 2018 application by denying any previous safeguarding concerns. Witness statements and school assistant records detailed how he asked two young girls on dates and used rewards to coerce hugs. After resigning in January 2020, Dixon faced a final panel that cited his refusal to accept responsibility and the high risk of repeating such behavior. The teacher is now indefinitely prohibited from returning to the profession.
