At a national workshop in Abuja, the United Nations Development Programme called for a coordinated, multi-sectoral strategy to address intimate partner violence and gender-based violence beyond awareness campaigns. Ministries of Justice, Women Affairs, Health and human rights bodies were tasked to develop sustainable support services for survivors under the upcoming Global Fund grant cycle. Experts highlighted the links between gender-based violence, HIV and tuberculosis. They stressed that legal protection, referral systems and survivor-centred interventions must be mainstreamed across health, economic empowerment and community programs.
