FOSAD Applauds Ojukwu’s Appointment, Urges Swift Action on Xenophobic Attacks
The Forum of South-East Academic Doctors (FOSAD) welcomes the appointment of Mrs. Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu as Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. Her extensive diplomatic experience and commitment to representing Nigeria globally make her well suited for this role. FOSAD calls on the new minister to prioritise the protection of Nigerians in the diaspora, with special attention to recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa. We urge proactive engagement with host governments and international bodies to ensure the safety and dignity of Nigerian citizens abroad. We also recommend a comprehensive diaspora engagement framework that delivers robust consular support, legal protection, and meaningful inclusion of diaspora voices in national policy. FOSAD looks forward to collaborating on initiatives that strengthen Nigeria’s international standing and safeguard its people worldwide.
