Chibok Survivor Marks 12th Anniversary: “Our Pain Was Real, Our Kidnapping Was Not Fake”
On the 12th anniversary of the Chibok abduction, survivor Rebecca Mallum shared a heartfelt reflection on life before, during, and after that fateful night. She disputed claims that the kidnapping was propaganda against the former government, insisting, “Our story is real. Our pain is real. Our kidnapping was not fake. We lived it. We felt it. We are still healing.” Rebecca honored the classmates who never returned and voiced hope for those still missing. In earlier posts, she recalled the moment her life split into “before” and “after” the kidnapping. Through her Facebook page, she continues to raise awareness of insecurity in Northern Nigeria and to support fellow survivors.
