Fugitive Drug Kingpin and Ex-Footballer Jailed 24 Years for Cocaine Importation
A Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced fugitive drug kingpin Ntoruka Emmanuel Chinedu and former professional footballer Hunkarin Segun George to a combined 24 years in prison for importing cocaine into Nigeria. Chinedu was initially arraigned in 2015 for importing 6.250kg of cocaine but jumped bail and remained at large for nearly 10 years. He was re-arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in June 2025 while allegedly attempting to bring in another 800 grams of cocaine from Addis Ababa. Investigators said Hunkarin was waiting at the airport car park to collect the consignment. The court sentenced Chinedu to 22 years and Hunkarin to two years, with no option of fine.
