Dremo Explains Leaving DMW: ‘They Focused Only on Davido’

Rapper Dremo has opened up about his decision to leave Davido Music Worldwide in a recent interview on Echo Room. He said the label’s management focused more on its founder, Davido, limiting support for other signees. Collaboration among artists was rare, and he never worked with fellow rapper Idowest under the imprint. Dremo added that the label never released a collective album and functioned more like a platform than a structured system. He said the financial support fell short of his expectations, so he has chosen to remain independent moving forward.

What do you think motivated Dremo to leave a label that seemed to offer so much exposure for its signees?

Dremo probably felt sidelined. It makes sense to seek a platform where his artistry isn't overshadowed by bigger names.

It's surprising how a top label like DMW focused almost exclusively on its founder, leaving other talents in the shadows.

Surely there were ways for Dremo to push for more collaboration and visibility rather than just walking away from the label.

Artists should always discuss support structures and collaboration plans before signing, so they aren't sidelined by the spotlight on a single star.
