Rafael Benítez Eyes Role as National Team Coach After Italy Vacancy
Former Liverpool and Valencia boss Rafael Benítez has revealed he is open to coaching a national side. Italy’s four-time world champions are searching for a new manager after Gennaro Gattuso resigned following a disappointing World Cup qualifying run. The Italian Football Federation will consider several top names, including Benítez, Roberto Mancini and Antonio Conte. Benítez is currently a free agent after a seven-month spell with Panathinaikos. His honours include a Champions League with Liverpool, Europa League titles with Chelsea and Valencia, two La Liga crowns and domestic cups in Italy. He also guided Newcastle United back to the Premier League.
