Kogi State Polytechnic in Shock as Lecturer Collapses and Dies in Class

Kogi State Polytechnic in Shock as Lecturer Collapses and Dies in Class

The Kogi State Polytechnic community has been plunged into grief after lecturer Anslem Ojodomo suddenly collapsed during a lecture. Students were left in panic when he slumped at the front of the classroom. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but medical personnel could not revive him. This tragic loss marks the third death at the institution in just six weeks since the new Rector took office. Staff members noted that both Anslem and a colleague, Dr. Barnabas Akuba, collapsed shortly after their PhD defences. Colleagues describe Anslem as energetic and full of life just hours before the fatal lecture. As of press time, the polytechnic’s management has not issued an official statement on the incident.

Has anyone ever witnessed a sudden collapse like this in class before? How did the school handle the emergency?

Do we know if the polytechnic had any medical staff or emergency protocol ready when this happened?

Not sure anyone's keeping records of sudden collapses, maybe focus on ensuring proper safety measures instead.

It seems odd that no first aid was mentioned immediately after the lecturer collapsed, considering most schools have basic emergency protocols.

I'm not convinced this one incident reflects security issues at the polytechnic, it could just be an unfortunate health emergency beyond anyone's control.

Students and staff should recommend installation of accessible first aid kits and organise basic life support training on campus immediately.
