Stop Ethnic Propaganda Against Peter Obi, Warns APC Senator Kawu Sumaila
An APC senator from Kano, Kawu Sumaila, has appealed to northern politicians to end ethnic propaganda against Peter Obi. He warned that those who spread lies against the former Anambra governor risk facing Allah’s judgment for deliberate falsehoods. Sumaila refuted claims that Obi once insisted Northerners wear ID cards while he governed. He explained that it was former Governor Rochas Okorocha who proposed the measure. Sumaila said he joined a team with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso to confront Okorocha in Imo State, forcing him to drop the plan. The senator emphasized that rivals are resorting to tribal attacks because they cannot challenge Obi on integrity, competence, or accountability. He stressed that beyond politics, Obi has never shown any sign of tribal bias. A forum member noted that no one is using the same charge against Okorocha today because he is not running for president. They argued that Obi’s only “crime” is seeking the presidency as an Igbo man.
