Orior Elders Back Ying Zhi Gas Pipeline Route at EDOGIS Public Hearing
On May 29, Edo State Geographic Information Service held a public hearing in Uhunmwode LGA to review the proposed routing of the Ying Zhi Energy gas pipeline through Orior Community. State officials, company representatives and community leaders met to discuss compensation, corporate social responsibility and project impact. The 2.85km pipeline will run from Orio 7 unit along the Lagos–Benin Expressway to the Yinghua Energy Park in Benin City. Community elders, led by the Odionwere, confirmed that landowners and farmers have been compensated and pledged their support for the project. EDOGIS Managing Director Dr. Innocent Bello described the initiative as a boost for domestic gas utilization and an industrial corridor aligned with the federal Decade of Gas plan. Company officials also outlined plans for local employment and skills training. Elders praised Governor Monday Okpebholo’s people-driven development agenda and EDOGIS’s transparent approach. They unanimously endorsed the pipeline routing and promised to support similar initiatives in the future.
