Jonathan Warns: Thuggery Is Now a Profession as Nigerian Thugs Fly First Class
At the Nigerian Bar Association Law Week in Abuja, former president Goodluck Jonathan condemned the rise of political thuggery in the country. He said thuggery has become a profession in Nigeria and noted that some political thugs earn more than university professors. He also pointed out that it is not unusual to see these individuals flying first class while professors struggle to afford economy tickets. Jonathan urged urgent reforms to Nigeria’s electoral and judicial systems. He said these changes are needed to strengthen democracy and restore public confidence in the electoral process.
