Ekiti Launches Nigeria’s First Newborn Health Research and Innovation Centre
On Friday, Ekiti State Governor commissioned a new Centre for Newborn Health Research and Innovation at the University Teaching Hospital in Ado Ekiti. It is the first facility in Nigeria devoted solely to newborn care research. The centre aims to drive cutting-edge research, foster innovation and build capacity to tackle preventable causes of neonatal deaths. It will bring together researchers, clinicians, policymakers and development partners to develop evidence-based solutions that improve survival rates for mothers and newborns. Officials from the Federal Ministry of Health and state health leaders praised the initiative as a strategic step toward producing home-grown health knowledge, strengthening health systems and reducing infant mortality across Ekiti and beyond.
