Primate Ayodele Demands Release of IPOB Leader, Warns of Protests

Primate Elijah Ayodele of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church has called on the Nigerian government to free the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu. Speaking in a video that went viral on Saturday, the cleric argued that if Kanu remains in custody, the government must also detain Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi to avoid claims of double standards. Ayodele warned that failing to address this issue could spark widespread public demonstrations against the Tinubu administration.

Do you think Ayodele's warning of protests will sway the government to release Nnamdi Kanu or escalate tensions further?

You're right, it could go either way—government might feel pressured or double down on security.

It's interesting that a religious leader is taking such a political stance; I wonder what drives his strong support for IPOB's cause.

Yeah, it does feel odd a spiritual leader wades into politics, yet maybe he sees no other way to push change.

As much as protests grab attention, organizing peaceful dialogue might achieve more than threats and ultimatums from any cleric.

A better step could be community meetings between government representatives and IPOB advocates to discuss concerns before escalating to mass demonstrations.
