Effiong Accuses INEC of Plot to Let Tinubu Run Unopposed in 2027

Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of orchestrating a plan to undermine credible elections ahead of 2027. His comments follow INEC’s decision to remove David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as ADC leaders and to refuse recognition of court-backed Nafiu Bala Gombe. The commission also suspended monitoring of all party factions pending a court ruling. Effiong argued that ADC executives had validly resigned to make way for a new leadership team ratified by the party. He questioned the role of the courts in internal party affairs and highlighted a Court of Appeal order on status quo ante bellum. He challenged INEC to clarify whether its actions signal a desire for President Bola Tinubu to run unopposed in 2027 and called on the commission to state its position publicly.

Could Effiong's claims spark real reforms, or is this just another political distraction ahead of 2027?

I agree. Public scrutiny of INEC might compel them to strengthen transparency ahead of the next election.

I'm all in believing this could shake things up, not just another noise show.

It's odd that INEC would focus on removing ADC leaders right after rejecting their recognition.

Voters should demand transparent timelines for candidate vetting and insist on public reports of any internal INEC decisions.
