I Was Fined for Playing for Nigeria, Reveals Ifeanyi Udeze
Former Super Eagles left-back Ifeanyi Udeze opened up on a recent podcast about his clash with Greek club PAOK over national team duty. He said PAOK’s manager warned he would lose his starting spot if he left for the Sydney 2000 Olympics and later blocked him from joining Nigeria for a crucial World Cup qualifier in Accra. Udeze also disclosed that the club froze his €25-per-minute performance bonuses for an entire season as punishment. Despite the threats, he returned to star in that 1-1 draw with Ghana, earned Man of the Match and went on to collect 35 caps for Nigeria.
