After Supreme Court Ruling, Wike Orders Rivers PDP Loyalists to Join APC

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has told his loyalists in Rivers State to defect from the PDP and pick up APC nomination forms. The directive came shortly after the Supreme Court dismissed both his cross-appeal and the rival faction’s appeal in the party leadership dispute. Sources say the order was issued late on Friday, and by Saturday several of Wike’s candidates had already collected APC forms. The court document in circulation was challenged by the PDP faction led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, who says it lacks an official stamp and signature. Analysts warn that a mass defection could upend political alignments in Rivers State and shape strategies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
