Yoruba Council Leader Hassan Assumes New Cultural Role, Flags Rising Security Threats
Aare Oladotun Hassan has accepted the title Agbenuso Omo Alade Oodua after a virtual gathering of Yoruba groups on March 22. He described the appointment as a privileged honour and pledged to advance unity, security and development for Yoruba people worldwide. Hassan said he will work closely with traditional rulers, including the Ooni of Ife, and partner with state governments and security outfits such as Amotekun and OPC. He warned that Yorubaland faces insurgency, banditry and kidnappings, calling for a national joint task force to restore peace. Beyond security, he outlined programmes for economic growth, education, healthcare, agriculture and technology. He also announced cultural events like the second Yoruba Obas Conference and the 27th Omoluabi Day Festival at Ile-Ife, urging solidarity among Yorubas at home and in the diaspora.
