Is Africa Doomed to Recolonization Because of Disunity?

I believe that without unity and visionary leadership, Africa risks recolonization. South Africa’s treatment of fellow Africans and Nigeria’s lack of long-term planning are clear warning signs. Continental meetings often strain to include North and Sub-Saharan nations. Leaders delay projects, treating citizens as undeserving of lasting progress. Meanwhile, Africans abroad endure hardship but are still seen as beggars. Our low productivity, lack of expertise, and misplaced pride fuel celebrations for minor contracts awarded to foreign firms. Few Nigerians follow conflicts in South Sudan or elsewhere in Africa, and vice versa. With no cohesive vision, I worry capable outsiders may once again seize control of our continent—or even enslave African descendants abroad. What do you think is the way forward?

I share your doubts, genuine unity seems elusive without tackling underlying trust issues among leaders.

It's telling that South Africa's stance on migrants contrasts sharply with Nigeria's short-term focus, highlighting leadership gaps across the continent.

Perhaps African leaders should prioritize binding development plans and enforce transparent collaboration at all continental summits to foster genuine unity.
